James W. Pharo is a seasoned legal and business affairs professional with experience in advertising, publishing, new media, and other businesses.

Jim provides general legal advice to CEO’s, COOs and CFOs, as well as staff at all levels of US and international companies.   He has worked on numerous assignments involving intellectual property, including copyright, trademark, trade secrets, right of publicity/privacy and licensing issues.

Jim has extensive experience with a wide variety of commercial contracts, including vendor/supplier agreements, strategic partnerships, agency-client agreements, music licensing and talent agreements.  He also provides general legal assistance in connection with business formation, shareholder agreements, real estate and employment matters.

His clients include small, medium and large marketing communications firms such as full-service ad agencies, digital shops, commercial production companies, marketing consultancies, new media agencies, branded content producers, media planners/buyers, magazine and website publishers.

Jim is a magna cum laude graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law where he served as Executive Editor of the Law Review.  He began his career at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton, and has held senior positions at American Express and Young & Rubicam, and was the General Manager and General Counsel of The Lord Group.
